This past week has to have been the craziest in NBA free agency history. ESPN is making a living off of he said she said and all the unnamed sources one can handle. Personally, I do not want to hear shit unless it involves a player actually signing with a team. Everything people like Ric Bucher and Stephen A. Smith is complete nonsense. First it was LeBron to Chicago, then to Miami, and now he is staying in Cleveland. Meanwhile LeBron has not said one word. Below is a brief summary of what we actually know and what commons sense tells us.
LeBron James:
Will either remain in Cleveland or go to Chicago. Those were always the only two options and is why he scheduled his last two meetings with these two teams. Sorry NY, you haven't won a title in 30 years and your best players is Danilo Gallinari. Good luck with that. Any one who reports that LeBron is thinking about a team aside from Cleveland or Chicago is completely full of shit (i.e. Stephen A. Smith).
Dwyane Wade:
Will stay in Miami or come to Chicago and try to play with Chris Bosh. Coming into this whole thing, I was adamant that Wade would stay in Miami. The only thing that has changed is that his crazy ex-wife may now get 50% custody of his two kids. If this happens, Wade will rarely see his kids unless he plays for the Bulls.
Chris Bosh:
Easily the most overrated free agent in this class. Bosh is soft and has a tendency to fade in big moments. Bosh will either pair up with Wade or LeBron, so we will not know his fate until they decide theirs.
Joe Johnson:
6 years $119mln from the Hawks. Great for JJ, terrible to Atlanta. Hey Atlanta, remember what Johnson did in the playoffs, well that is half your salary cap room for the next 6 years. Hope you enjoy.
Paul Pierce/Dirk Nowitzki
As expected, both will remain on their respective teams. The only reason these two opted out a year early was that no one know what will become of the next collective bargaining agreement, and everyone is trying to get paid now.
Richard Jefferson
On the advice of Tiger Woods' damage control team, Jefferson will forgo the $15mln that is owed to him next year and will spend next year delivering KFC to Delonte West (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVA00Fngvm)
