'How's the suit?'
As the Rod Blagojevich corruption trial resumes following the long holiday weekend, one of the biggest questions was whether the former governor would continue to be the snappiest dresser in the room following last week’s testimony about his lavish spending on suits.
Blagojevich did not disappoint today, showing up in a sharp and exquisitely tailored charcoal gray number that likely comes from his well-stocked wardrobe of multi-thousand-dollar-a-pop Oxxford suits.
On his way into court, Blagojevich even stopped to ask a TV reporter to evaluate his fashion selection of the day. “How’s the suit?” Blagojevich asked.
Before court began, U.S. District Judge James Zagel announced that a member of the jury panel had been excused because of an illness in the family -- the first jury panel member to be dropped. The former juror was designated as Number 115. She was about 40 years old and said during questioning before testimony began that she works for a printing company that does mass mailings.
The jury panel hearing the case includes more than the 12 who will ultimately decide Blagojevich’s fate. The extra members are included to hear the proceedings in case jurors are excused along the way. Now, five extra jurors remain.
Back on the stand this morning is Michael Winter, the former consultant to the development firm Rezmar owned by Antoin “Tony” Rezko, the convicted fundraiser for Blagojevich. Winter has testified that Rezko once came to him about a monthly consulting agreement to justify paying a regular stipend to Patti Blagojevich.
Winter said it was illogical to pay someone a regular fee to serve as a broker. Brokers usually get paid on commission for completing deals, he said.

In my humble opinion Rod Blagojevich is an American hero. Where else can a man who cannot use a computer, text message, and has a sub 70 IQ become the governor of one of the largest states in the country? Nowhere is the answer. Blago understands how to be successful in America. Wear ballin suits, make smarter people do all your work for you, and marry a chick with strong political connections. Everything else is just gravy. Except when you go to prison for corruption, but that's just a minor detail. So to Blago, if OJ can kill two people and get away with it, why can't you get taped trying to sell a senate seat and get off scotch free. FREE BLAGO!
